报告题目：Application of EXAFS to Catalyst & Research Opportunities at the Canadian Light Source

报告人简介：

陈宁研究员在山东大学光学系取得学士学位，航天部二院取得硕士学位，加拿大萨斯堪彻温大学获得博士学位。曾在地矿部地质遥感中心任工程师，2001-2003年，加拿大光源副研究员，2003-至今，加拿大光源线站科学家，Hard X-ray MicroAnalysis (HXMA)束线负责人。同时兼任加拿大萨斯堪彻温大学地质科学系、魁北克大学化学、生物化学和物理系及北京大学地球与空间科学学院客座教授。主要研究领域为XAFS在材料，环境，能源，矿物学，地球化学和相关科学的应用。

Abstract: Synchrotron technology has been widely applied inmaterial science,engineering and related research fields. Among varioussynchrotron approaches, X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) plays its unique role upon its capability of element specific local structure approach for both crystalline and amorphous materials.The purpose of this talk is to introduce the synchrotron technology, specifically the application of XAFS in the fields of materials and catalysts characterization. Covered by the talk will be (1) what is a synchrotron? (2) how does a synchrotron work? (3) XAFS theory fundamental, and (4) XAFS case study.
