报告人简介：

Xiangdong Yao（姚向东），澳大利亚格里菲斯大学昆士兰微纳米技术中心教授，1989年东北大学材料科学与工程学士学位，1992年西北工业大学材料科学与工程硕士学位，2005年大利亚昆士兰大学材料工程博士学位，在从事纳米轻金属材料在清洁与可持续能源方面作出了重要贡献，在JACS,Nature Com., Adv Mater., Adv. Func Mater., Angew Chem., J Phy Chem B., Appl Phy Letters等高档次期刊发表论文多达150余篇。2005年以来，受邀在国际/国内学术会议上做报告多达50余次，在国际知名的研究机构做30余次报告。2005年以来，已获得了20多项共计700余万美元的经费资助(包括十项ARC资助)。目前的主要在能源转化催化、生物燃料、超级电容器等领域开展研究。从事材料的设计和创新合成以及能源转化和储存的新技术。

Dr Xiangdong Yao is a full Professor of Energy Materials atGriffith University, Australia.He obtained his BEng at Northeastern University in 1989 and MEng at Northwestern Polytechnical University in 1992 respectively for Materials Science and Engineering. From 1992 to 2000, he was employed in Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences as Research Associate (1992), Assistant Professor (1995) and Associate Professor (1998). His research was mainly on the design and development of new high-temperature materials, which lead to the innovation of three superalloys patents (commercialized) and numerous scientific publications. In 2000, he came to The University of Queensland where he was granted the PhD degree in Materials Engineering in 2005, working on the computational modeling for microstructure formation in light metals. From November 2003, he joined the ARC Centre of Excellence for Functional Nanomaterials at The University of Queensland and focused on the research of non-equilibrium materials by both mechanical grinding and rapid solidification with nano-structural metallic materials, especially nanostructured light metal materials for clean and sustainable energy applications. Since November 2009, he joined Griffith University as an Associate Professor and the group leader of advanced energy materials. Dr Yao has made a number of significant contributions to these areas and has published over 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Since 2005, he has addressed 50 keynotes/invited talks in national/international conferences and 30 in internationally recognized research institutions. He has chaired and co-chaired over 10 international conference and serves as Editorial Board members for three international journals. He has been awarded several research Fellowships, including an ARC Australian Research Fellowship and an ARC Postdoctoral Fellowship (Industry).
